Pilates
Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early half of the 20th century. Over time, its popularity has increased and subtle changes have been made to his original method as biomechanical understanding has grown. The goal of Pilates is to strengthen one's core, which are the stabilizing muscles of the abdominals and spine. Special attention is paid to clients form and education of the body and mind are stressed through out the workout.
Pilates is taught on the mat and with equipment. In Pilates Mat classes, abdominal, upper back and hip strength is exercised. Pilates with Anne also offers Privates, Duets, Trios and Spring Board Classes using Pilates equipment such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair to increase the challenge of the exercises or help assist with achieving proper alignment. The equipment adds weight in the form of spring tensions and instability with ropes and pulleys. When using equipment, the arms, shoulders, abdominals, hips, knees and ankles can be targeted.
Due to Pilates' innate versatility, it can be beneficial for both the de-conditioned body and elite athlete. Instructors at Pilates with Anne have experience teaching a wide range of clients. They include those who are rehabilitating from surgery and illness, actively involved in a variety of sports (swimming, horseback riding, golf, soccer), and leaders in business and the community.
We suggest you try our $150 Introductory Special of 3 privates + 1 mat class or 1 Spring Board Class.
